Well, in solipsistic blog style, howdy.
I found my way here by a circuitous route, but suffice to say I'm very glad I did.
I've been listening to James, off and on, ever since Strip Mine. I was out with a pal in Manchester - we'd just made the jump from metal and goth to the Smiths, when we saw Strip Mine ina independent record shop. I'd spent all my money in Affleck's Palace and he had a few quid left, so bought the thing on a whim.
Great whim.
It started a musical journey that took us, via the Hacienda, to such diverse places as Spike Island, the Finsbury Park Fleadh and Camden Proud Galleries, and with a hit and miss attitude to the Mondays, the Sundays, the Wedding Present, the Inspirals and all the rest of it.
20 something years on, still one of the few bands I will forsake wife and family to go and see. Judging by this site I'm not alone.
Still getting away with it.
